Giraffes on The Plains

Giraffes on the open plains on the banks of the Chobe River in gorgeous warm light as the day was coming to an end. I kept the shutter speed low on this one to get a slightly overexposed feel which made me battle to get a sharp capture. This one turned out right

I really like the arrangement of your subjects and the dynamic differences in their poses. Exposure feels very good, too. I wonder about the amount of plain sky and might reduce it a bit...but a larger print would be the way to make that decision!

Hey Mario,

Interestingly I have to say that the thumbnail for this image definitely doesn't do this shot justice. I like the regularly sized version and the larger version even more!

I'm a fan of good animalscapes - and I really like how you've split the frame here (between ground and sky). But, at least for me, the strength of this shot is the interesting varied poses of the giraffes and I'm wondering if moving in closer (so that the 4 giraffes pretty much fill the frame edge-to-edge) might have produced a stronger image (i.e., highlighting the strength of the image more). Just a thought...

Cheers...

Brad

Mario,
Great pose here and nice muted colours, like Brad I think that a tighter crop may improve the overall impact :toast:

@Brad and @Ken

I think you are both right and I am actually going to try a cropped version. Thanks for the tip
