Lift Me Up & Re-Post Crop

Hard to believe, but this was not the most colorful light show over Vermillion Lakes near Banff during my brief visit a couple of weeks ago. The rays were pretty impressive and angelic, and were only visible during this sunrise. Most of the interesting FG ice had melted and was broken up, so I zoomed a bit to highlight the colorful sky.

I have considered a tighter crop, but this is the full image.

Spectacular! I like it without a tighter crop. It has a certain optical illusion effect on me. It looks like someone swimming from the mountain toward the mountain reflection could drop off into a deep chasm (as least to me, anyway.)

Harry, it must have been a gift to be at Vermillion Lakes at this moment. It's a stunning image.

Love it as is Harry. Fantastic image. Did you make it over to Bow Lake? If not, put it on your list for when you return. The Canadian Rockies are so outrageously beautiful..... where ever you go.

I don't see cropping this as offering much. Those shadow rays on the right are neat addition and the red splashes against a mostly blue image really pop. Lovely image.

Wow! Love the spots of cloud color above and reflected. Looks like the sky was leaving lipstick kisses all over this scene. Lots to love about it, for sure. Stunning image.

Beautiful colors and a real nice dramatic scene. I like the full frame presentation, as I am not seeing a crop I like better.

The light breaking across the peak makes this one extra special. Great color and reflection as well.

Simply wonderful color and light throughout the frame. Don't see how a crop would improve this.

Thanks for all of the kind feedback. The crop I was thinking of is included above - not much, but a little off the top and bottom to tighten up the image, at least that was my thought. I'll prob. leave the full image for now, so thanks for the input.

Eva - Didn't get to Bow Lake. Didn't get very far from the immediate Banff area. My friends I was traveling with might not have been too keen on me "disappearing" for the day/night  Down the road I hope to explore some more.

WOW, some very impressive rays here, Harry. I'm liking the first none cropped version the best. Both work just fine, but the full size to me is very nice.
I find the verticals on the web tend to always fall prey to seeing a need for crops, either top, bottom, or both. I think for the most part as a result of our need to scroll up & down to really take the scene in full scale. If we saw it in a print we'd no doubt want the full size......just my 2cents.......
Regardless, a simply wonderful photo cropped or not.

Harry, I think the crop works as well as the original, but it's hard to carefully compare when scrolling up and down. In this case the differences are very subtle.
