Colorado Sunset

This gentle scene of a high country lake and mountains was captured on the descent from Mount Evans in Colorado. Looking back, I wish that the border between land and water didn't bisect the frame so near its center. I experimented with removing much of the foreground to lower that border, but that action removes the cloud's reflection. Also, the trees and brush were originally silhouettes, but have been lightened to show some detail.

Please comment and critique.

Equipment: Pentax K-5, DA 18-55mm WR at 47.5mm, handheld

Exposure: 1/100s, f/5.6, iso 100

Crop: Full frame

Yes, a peaceful scene. I like the distorted cloud reflection mirroring the real and the layers of mountains in the background.

Love the peachy pastels and the fog layers at the horizon. Nice job.

I like the pastel colors as well as the cloud reflection, and the overall peaceful mood. Very nice, Randy.

I sure do like the gentle colors and the simple comp. Having the cloud nearly centered adds to the peaceful feeling.

I like the serenity, especially in the reflected glow on the water. Nice shot

The water/tree line location does not bother me in the slightest. I think it works well. I really love the rippley cloud reflection. This is a real nice, peaceful scene.

Beautiful pastels in this Randy and a very calm feeling scene. The comp works nicely as is and nice processing also. Nice job on this.

This is very impressive Randy. There's a certain "purity" in this that really attracts attention.

Nice simple scene. Nice color.

I do think it would likely benefit from more aggressive sharpening for web.

Thank you for the additional comments, everyone. I took Mark M.'s suggestion to sharpen it for web, but the 300KB version shows a heavy moire effect, so I opted not to upload it. I tried that at full resolution, which produced a 5.7MB file that looks better than the original, in my opinion.
