Once again-I'm willing to be corrected. This is the other species that was vying for the nest I posted int he last two images. This was the eventual winner (at least it's the bird that was there the next day). Most of the images I have of it, it's perched on the nest and there isn't very good separation from the bg. This was the best I had with that problem solved. I like the spider web in the bill, ready to be added to the nest.

7D, 300mm f4 + 1.4TC, hand held, f8, 1/2000, Av mode with no compensation, iso 500. Processed in CS6 and cropped to 9.6MP. A bit more sharpening than I usually like because my focus was slightly off. Taken October 29th at 8:27 am in the Tyto Wetlands, Ingham, Queensland.

Your comments and criticisms are most appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

ID spot-on Dennis - interesting natural history that two species showed interest in the nest. Simon

Looks like he's on guard, making sure the other bird doesn't sneak back, nice work.

Sweet photo of this species Dennis  I like the feel for it's habitat in this frame without it being over-whelming.
