I've tried to create an impression of growing darkness or gloom here.
I used flash & removed most of the 'sparkle' from the frame.
I did however leave the fangs to glisten:eek:
F/16, 1/200th, ISO 800, 1D M3, Sigma 150mm + 1.4x ext.
It's a tiny Green Lynx Spiderling.

Good lord! It's like (s)he's emerging from the sea to threaten me. Very effective.

Hate these creatures and found myself shivering as I looked at it but thought the photography was great. The fact it had me shivering is testimony to the power of the image. Very good, yet scary, image

This reminds me of why I don't like spiders. I'll pass on the large version.

My God, look at the fangs on that thing! Your photo reminds me of the old horror movies, where insects have been irradiated and are enormous......eating all the people in their path :toast:

Ok, Howard, the larger version is just CREEPY! Great photography to turn this "tiny" spider into a horror movie shot. I like your low shooting angle, the pose you caught of his spiky legs grasping toward the viewer(!!), and the glistening fangs. I think I may have nightmares as a result of this weeks' theme.

The b&w with highlights definitely feels creepy. Nice pose, details, and comp. Howard.

Howard, this is masterful lighting and processing to create such a menacing-looking image! Very effective comp, also; it helps give the appearance of a really big creature on a broad landscape -- nowhere to hide.

Great shading and composition to make this look so menacing.
