I recently returned from a trip to the Western Hudson Bay region. This is one of my images.

Comments, critique and suggestions always welcome.

Happy Shooting
Jack

Tech stuff: Canon5D III, Canon EF500mm/f5 IS, f/10, 1/800 sec, ISO-1600, tripod. Full frame image.

Love the bear need to get rid of that black box in the background, distracting.

Congratulations for finding this fine looking bear at close range, nice detail, especially in the larger view. I see a bit of noise in the sky at iso 1600, not a major issue unless you are a pixel peeper (I might just qualify). I would be curious to see how this would work with more room on the sides; the proportions as presented seem rather square for a full frame image Jack.
(Just remembered that cameras these days offer alternative in-camera crop modes
My apologies for forgetting that.)

Fine image of this endangered beauty. Nice detail in the fur and great handling of the exposure.
I think I'd prefer a more traditional crop with more of the habitat.

Nice pose and exposure here Jack. Was the area around it recently burnt? Or is it just naturally dark like that? Either way it offsets the bear nicely.
I think you can open up the shadows overall just a tad, would help with the snout/eyes detail on the bear too as they look a bit choked up...

It is interesting to see this polar bear in a different environment than snow and ice. The darker colours in the background do make the bear stand out really well. However the background is pretty messy and quite distracting, especially the large black rectangle above the bear's head.

Hello Jack

Impressive Capture!... Well Done...

Too bad about that Black rock, ..... Sharp & clean Exposure with excellent detail where it matters.

In the larger version, the Catchlight is just visible, maybe if you could bring them up slightly, to accentuate those Amazing Eyes.
