Mushrooms

These mushrooms were found in a dark bog on an island in Brule Lake in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness of Minnesota. I wish that the solo mushroom in the upper-right corner was in focus. Also, I cropped out some of the log on the right side because it was blurry. Would you please suggest how the image can be improved?

Clone out the OOF mushroom. Other than that, looks good to me.

Nice one, Randy. I like the comp especially the location of the mushroom on top. Just wish for a little more dof.

Randy: What a terrific little scene! The larger version is fabulous. I like keeping the lone mushroom and I don't find it objectionably OOF. In fact I think it makes it more apparent that its off by itself and not a part of the crowd. Black sheep of the family you suppose? Delightful shot. >=))>

Thank you for the comments, Phil, Sanjay, and Bill. I guess that I will leave the picture as is.

Randy:

Nice find. I would leave the lone mushroom as it is. The DOF is not bothersome. If you got the back one in focus, you might find the background might be a little untidy. The alternative is to do focus stacking. Like to see the lines in the raw exposed surface of the log.

Thanks, Gary. Next time I'll in a situation like this, I'll need to try for more DOF with an aperture of f/8 or higher.

I like the grouping and overall scene Randy, the large view looks great!
One option would be a 4:5 ratio taking some off the left.
It would showcase the 'rooms' a bit more

Howard, I like your suggestion to change the aspect ratio and crop out some of the messy left side. Here is the new image. Thank you.

Cool composition. Esp like the one "rogue" mushroom on top.
