Stained Glass

I went out yesterday and just walked around the neighborhood taking photos of the trees in their fall colors. This maple tree was one of the most beautiful I'd ever seen, every leaf was "variegated" for lack of a better term, not a single leaf was a solid color, all of them a splotchy yellow and red mix. This leaf is backlit against a dark background that I made darker in post-processing to accentuate the luminescence and colors of the leaf. Looking at the backlit leaves reminded me of looking at stained glass windows.

Any critiques would be greatly appreciated, please view the larger version for better detail.

Scott: Aptly titled and superbly captured and presented. Really good management of plane of focus/DOF to get good sharpness over the entire leaf. 2 thumbs up! >=))>

Scott, I like your choice of blacking out the background to make the leaf stand out.

Very nice, Scott. The colors are stunning and the backlighting really makes the leaf stand out (just like stained glass).
Good presentation and the square crop works great.

I like the backlighting, inviting colors, and contrast. This is a must-see in the large version, else the veins and other little variations are unseen. Well done!
