Boynton Snapshot [+edit]

I never hand-hold my camera for anything besides snapshots, so I guess this has to count as such.

A friend and I spent a few days bicycling and hiking in the Sedona, AZ, area a few weekends ago. On the second day, we decided to ride from the Boynton Canyon trail head around the Red Rock Loop, and then hike Boynton Canyon. I had my RX100 stuck in a jersey pocket, but not my tripod. The canyon was beautiful with fall color; I wished I had brought the tripod and had more time.

(Note to self: Clothes that might translate into "Those guys in matching jerseys and spandex must be members of a cool road bicycling club" do _not_ translate into "Those guys in matching jerseys and spandex must be members of a cool hiking club" when hiking up a wilderness canyon; change more than shoes between activities next time.)

Just saw this on FB John, and I had a feeling you'd post this here. Glad you did! Love the diagonals and depth, and of course the color is gorgeous. Has a real east coast feel. Great find!

I think you done a great job with this John, considering, you didn't bring a tripod. Beautiful color and composition. Well done.

Gorgeous! I might be tempted to pull a little magenta out of the tree trunks, but what a glorious fall scene. I love the comp and the color explodes.

John, What a wonderful autumn scene you found. I think Harley is right about the magenta in the tree trunks but still this has such a nice feel just as it is. I like your comp a lot too. :toast:

You really have a special way of simplifying very complex scenes, John. Just an excellent comp, and the colors look beautifully natural. Love the mix of colors, shapes, and textures.

Beautifully done, John! The repost is even better. Love the comp - the tree trunks make some sense out of the chaos of color. Gorgeous colors!
