Snared

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted November 8, 2013232 views12 comments
Early one morning I captured this Mayfly snared in a spider web along the river at the back of my property in Virginia. The rising morning sun was just right.
Canon 5D MKII, 100mm macro at 100mm, 1/60sec, f/9, iso100, tripod used and cropped away about 705 of image for this composition.
C&C welcome

I love the way this pops against the background. The strands of web add a nice surrounding pattern as well.

I agree with the first comment 100% David.
Excellent use of the morning light, I especially like those shiny wings & large green eyeballs
Nice work! :toast:

This is great :toast: Gotta love those "googly" eyes!!! The detail and the translucent shine to his wings is spot on. :jump:

This is a great photo, David, especially with how the BG is blacked out to show the detail. I never knew that mayflies looked this interesting up close.

This is stunning, David, with those tiny drops, amazing eyes, full dof on the Mayfly, and a deep black background.

Great shot, David. I think your composition works very well as the dark BG.

Congrats on the WP!
