Sunset Fiesta

This was my first winter backpacking trip to the Costal Mountains. I set my camp for two nights up, at the base of Garibaldi Mountain. My tent was just at the right end of the glacier visible in the middle of the photo. A few days before my trip warmer weather and high winds, created interesting ice formation on the rocks. I used one of these rocks as a foreground for this photo. Watching spectacular views with great light was like a fiesta for my eyes.

Nikon D800 14-24mm@14mm
ISO 100 f/5.6
Three horizontal photos stitched together to cover wide angle of view.
Multiple photos blended for depth of field in the foreground.

I especially like the mix of direct light and pink clouds.

Great view with the ice formations up front, the peak in the distance and the gentle colors in the clouds. Very well done!

I have a mixed reaction--the drama and peak are incredible, but im not fond of the fg, everyone wants to do the near-far thing but the near here is a tad dirty--which contrasts with the majesty and pureness of the peak--and the lines run counter to the bg; the ice shapes angle down and right while the ridgeline is up and right. Looks like im in the minority, but honestly id prefer this without the fg subject.

This image is straight up wicked. I disagree with Stan, the extreme foreground element makes this image different and spectacular. The focal blend here is magnificent and pulls me into the image like I was there shooting this scene.

Sure I can see Stans image, but why not take it a step or two, or three....further, that's what you have done here and I can appreciate your vision, let alone your tenacity to get to this place in the conditions at this time of day.

The FG adds added interest and more info about the surroundings in this shot. The distortion not as big a deal wiuth this kind of image. Great lighting, the cool and warm tones a wonderful mix. I'm looking for your tent, maybe behind the snow ridge  Very wild feel which is fantastic. :toast:

Wow. That light and the line of the ridge leading the eye back from that fascinating ice in the foreground to those jagged peaks make this one outstanding image.

Thank you everyone
I used three horizontal shots blended by hand (stitched) to get some distortion in the foreground but to keep flattening in the peak area under control ( second shot with the peak at the very top of the frame). Third shot for the sky.
Mount Garibaldi is one of most scenic and highest in the area. I spent two days hiking and looking for photo opportunities. My tent (not visible here)( Harry, you were close it is behind the snow ridge) was set on the ridge with spectacular views of valley and ocean 2000 meters below. Anyone interested in visiting this area just let me know and I can arrange trip ( arturstanisz@gmail.com). Photo above was taken 100 meters from my tent . Town below- Squamish :toast:

Artur, what a spectacular view. It must have been a special place to be in. The image is nice as is, but I'm with Stan. To me, the ice and gravel in the foreground draw the eye from the majestic mountain peak.
