I have always found the Hibiscus very difficult to photograph. i hope this image will be an exception. i used backlighting to capture the amazing lines of this complex flower. comments appreciated ..... please see large version.

Love the back lighting, it adds such a nice glow to this lovely color

The lighting adds an air almost of mystery to this, Albert - very nice, crisply rendered centre and good colouring.

A well titled image, Albert. The backlighting, shading, and color does gives this an alluring look even though the imperfections show that this beauty is past its prime. Sort of like an aging Marlene Dietrich.

Albert: I do love the backlighting. I would like a little bit of fill on the center parts either from a reflector or a pinch of flash. I do like the comp and subject. >=))>

I like the detail in the center and the beautiful backlighting of the petals. Nicely done!

I like it, despite the obvious imperfections (which remind me more of Lauren Bacall than Marlene Dietrich ). :toast:

Albert, it's a nice color. I don't think I have seen a hibiscus of this color.
The contrast between the backlit areas and the shaded areas is hard to capture, but you have done a good job trying to reign them in. Like Phil suggested, I think using a reflector or flash will help bring some light to the dark areas.

Albert - My thoughts are exactly in line with what Bill said. Looks all nice to me but would have been great with some reflected light !

Albert:

Without looking at what Bill wrote, I also wish for a little fill light to bring out a little more details in the darker part. Nice composition nonetheless. :toast:
