Awkward Light 2

This Polar Bear looks more at home on the pack ice around 350 miles from the North Pole. It also placed itself on a high lump, which made it possible to avoid too much of a look down, especially when you lay flat out on the deck.
Taken from the deck of M V Stockholm.
EOS 1DX
200-400 mm F4 +1.4 EX at 560 mm
F6.3
ISO 1600

Ken, the overall warmth from the light makes this one work exceptionally well. Very impressive take on this gorgeous giant.

Gotta agree. I love the light here. You handled the exposure well.

How's that 200-400 working for you?

Wow, a real fire and ice contrast in the sky and land. There is an almost fantasy look with such pretty coloration. Would be nice if his one paw wasn't hidden, but a rather minor nit I'm picking. This must have been a real treat to witness.

Thanks everybody for your very kind comments, which are much appreciated.
Whilst processing has definitely removed this a lot from "actuality", the sky was red, the ice was blue and the bear was not white. :toast: :toast:

The warm yellow-whites of the beat complement nicely that gorgeous sky. The ice frames the bear well. Well seen, composed and captured.
