I was enthralled by the variety of colors, shapes, and textures along this summit ridge in the southern White Mnts. of NH. AN the view wasn't bad either  The directional lighting helped create separation in a very busy image. Maybe too busy. This all prepped me for an amazing sunset. Not one of NH's hit list locations, but peaceful and pretty for sure.

I zoomed in a bit using a 24-105L to bring the mountains a little closer and give them a bit more dominance in the image. 3 images for a Focal blend, and another for the sky exposure highlights. Perfect stillness made for an easy focal blend.

Edit: After looking at the image, I decided to tone down the cyans/blues as they seemed too strong - especially that tree trunk in the middle left. Somehow, the small jpeg made it more obvious than the hi res image.

Geeze Harry, this is some good photo. Love the colors you captured, the layers, and a number of diagonals. Certainly is evocative of the mtns of New England. The granite rocks with all the lichens add a lot for me. The sky is the only element that didn't quite do it, but it's not bad. Well seen.

A wonderful image, your composition, the exceptional light. The DOF you attained with the blend is beautiful. Well done!

Peter, if the sky was any more crazy, the image would have been too crazy  The land forms were the highlight for this image, so I think the more subdued sky was ok in this case - better than plain blue  I the crazy sky would come later that evening - that post to come.

Wow, this is a beautiful scene, Harry. I think the composition works - it doesn't look too busy to my eye as the layers fit well to form a cohesive image. :toast:

Harry, a fine viewscape! I look forward to the sunset shot as topping this, but I like this a lot, especially the foreground light and detail. Here, the sky just serves as a stopping place for the eye. Well done!

I reduced the cyans/blues in this version - seemed too strong in the orig. post. Hopefully an improvement.

Hi Harry

Wow this is really nice, it really pulls me through the scene with so much to look at. I personally much prefer the first one, the second one flattens out for me, by making the middle ground rock and BG mountains less striking and captivating.

Later,

Shane

Shane - I do see what you mean. A little added contrast is needed. Thanks!

This is BEAUTIFUL, Harry! The light and color here is just wonderful. What an inviting scene this is. Everything looks perfect to me just as you have it, so I like the first one as is. :toast:

This is beautifully done, Harry. The sidelight is perfect for showcasing all those wonderful intimate details in the FG; all topped off by the mountains and clouds in the BG. I can't decide which one I like better.

This is wonderful. I really like all of the details in the foreground, the great light in the midground, that touch of bright fall color in the distance and the silhouettes that seem to go on forever. The color change in the repost is subtle, but adds a nice bit of extra warmth.

Really nice light on the scene Harry with beautiful colors. Nice composition and flow through the image. I think I like the first one the best because of the contrast. Very nice job on this.

Harry, I much prefer the second post with regard to the FG rocks and foliage there, the cyan was too much. I think Shane is correct about the MG & BG area now though, so, a selection there with cont / sat boost should make things happier all the way around.
Striking view and capture from this POV.

I like the first post best Harry. The light overall seems so much better. The back lighting of the vegetation is gorgeous.
