Snouted Cobra

Also known as Banded or Egyptian Cobra,
I have seen snakes very rarely mainly Rock Python, so a sighting like this was for me quite rare. We found it crossing the road near Ngweshla in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe.
Like most snakes it "ran" away, pausing only very momentarily to give us a scare.
Given the fact that the venom kills in 10 minutes I decided to stay in the vehicle

Ken - it looks like you really had a great trip. Your photographs from this trip make me jealous and this one is no exception. The only thing I would like to see different in this picture would be a lower angle but then you would have needed to get out of your vehicle.

Ken, that's a remarkable cobra image given that you wimped-out and shot it from the vehicle

My drivers try and keep such sightings a secret because they know what I'll beg to do....I'm not as smart as you. Safe to say you have the first cobra ever with an EF200-400mm.

Oh Man, I really didn't need to see the large version....scary, scary animal and photo. Well captured Ken. We get little non-venomous garter snakes here, I like here.

Lions, hyenas , leopards, and now cobras, and I though grizzly country was tough!

Nice capture, and I imagine and easy one to have missed given the coloration.
