Emergence of Light

This is from a backpack trip this summer in Utah's Uinta Mountains. I spotted this off-trail tarn while I was at a higher elevation and decided I needed to get there. While up high I figured out where I had to leave trail and about how far I had to go to get there. When I arrived it was stormy and cloudy so I had to wait... and wait... and wait. I know it was only an hour and a half, but I tend to get a little impatient sometimes and want to keep moving, but this spot was too sweet to give up on. For a few moments the sky cracked, I felt very fortunate.

Thanks for looking and C&C if you want.

Love the warm glow and perfect reflection Jeff. Did you consider cropping to a 4X5 to eliminate the foreground? I think would add to the overall symmetry.

Patience almost always pays off. It's hard thing for me, too. This was so worth it! Fantastic light and it's location brings attention to the sweet spot. :toast:

Nice one, Jeff! Nice, warm color and a sweet composition. A slight crop from the bottom to just below the lower point of the central triangular rock gives a little more prominence to the reflection. Also, and could be just me, but I am seeing a halo along the skyline. I really like this one a lot.

Captivating, Jeff. So many wonderful elements to enjoy. You got the perfect reflection, and really like the mottled light. Nicely developed too. Looks totally real.

I like Preston's version of a crop from the bottom. My guess on the halo is from sharpening. I would either back off a bit or go along the edge with a small blur brush. Beautiful site, and worth the wait!

This was definitely worth the wait. Excellent light and composition. Thanks for sharing a new spot, too. The mountains here have a unique look - almost reminds me of what I have seen of Zion.

Well-framed reflection. The reflection's clarity and the light spilling onto the cliffs really make this for me.

Glad to see your patience paid off. Really nice how the light frames those trees. The reflection looks great and I think I dig the comp with foreground as is. Very nice!
