Reflections

This is a picture I made earlier this month on what was a delightful fall morning. The reflections were wonderful at this beautiful small lake in the forest. My wife was along and a couple of good friends and we all enjoy this place very much on this beautiful autumn morning.
Thanks for looking and any thoughts. Larger version included.

I like this a lot, Nick. Wonderful warm tones and the fading focus works for me.

Very nice small scene, Nick I love the out of focus impressionistic colors that are nicely separated from the foreground subject. Great work. Chet

Very soft and delicate take here, Nick. Along with the excellent color combination the fading DOF is perfect IMO. At first glance the DOF threw me off, but after viewing for a few seconds it works extremely well in the context of this wonderful scene. Very nice indeed.

Really nice NIck. The brilliance of the bokeh is awesome. I haven't seen too many intimate scenes like this from you but this is outstanding. Nice work. :toast:

I really like the simplicity, color, and the light in the water. Both interesting and elegant. Very nice!

Thanks much for all of your comments on this. It was such a wonderful fall morning and I'm pleased that this image captured some of the feelings of it. I don't make to many images like this but very much did enjoy making this one. Thanks, Nick

I'm really liking this one, Nick. Beautiful color and I love the shallow DOF. This looks like a good spot just to sit back and linger for a while. I'm glad you got to share this moment with family and friends too.

The whole scene is very peaceful Nick. The beautiful color is what makes the scene, and the cattails add a very nice point of interest.

Thanks Brian and Richard! Yes, it was great being able to share with my wife and friends. I'm usually alone while working on my photography so it was very nice having some company to share with. Thanks, Nick

Very pleasing Nick I like the out of focus colourful backdrop and the pleasing shape of the composition of the sharp rushes in the foreground.

Thanks Ian, Very much appreciate your thoughts. I really wanted the out of focus background of reflections and then the front cattail and grass very sharp. The second cattail and reeds fell in to place for me nicely with the 300mm at f/8. Glad you enjoyed it! Nick

Nick this is wonderful. On top of the color harmony here, the use of the shallow DOF is perfect. Really well done.

I really like this, dazzling color.
I do wish you had stepped to the right or left to separate the main subject.

I love it Nick. My eye immediately goes to the in focus cattail and then the colors attract my attention. Print this baby large and hang proudly.

Beautiful color in the background really sets off the cattails. I like the comp and the shallow dof. A very artistic piece.

Thanks Bill, Zack, Morris and Scott. Sure appreciate your thoughts! The fading dof was what I felt would make this image work, so I'm glad to know that seems to be your thoughts as well. Thanks, Nick

This is quite special. The golden reflection on the water and the sharp focus on the fg cattail work together to create a mood of sweet nostalgia. I like this one very much
