Warming the Tops

Early light warmed the tops of snow laden pines last week. Winter Storm "Atlas" (when did they start naming snowstorms?) was followed by a whole series of smaller snows. Looks like winter may set in up here pretty early this year. Thanks for looking and let me know what you think.

Wow, that's a lot of snow for this time of year.

I like the contrast between the golden tipped trees and the shaded foreground. I would back off on the saturation on the golden trees. I also notice a little bit of a halo around the middleground tree on the left hand side.

I like the contrasts and beautiful golden light Nancy Lea. I might be tempted to bring up the whites (snow) a bit. Hopefully you don't have a rough winter ahead.

I like this a lot. The whites look perfect to me, although theres a noticeable darkening at the top of the pine on the lhs (adjacent to the bright bg tree). My only other suggestion is maybe deepen the blues in the sky a bit (selective color, or sat). and i finally responded to your question on my latest post.

Very nice scene Sandy!

Two questions: are you on a calibrated monitor? Also, did you intend for the image to be so warm? I would consider cooling the over all white balance.

Snow, snow everywhere, pretty scene Nancy, definitely like the golds, and of course, the large view works best. I think if you whiten the whites a bit, it would make a big difference, never the less, beautiful snow scene.

Wow, that is a lot of snow already, Nancy. This is a wonderful winter scene and I like the golden light on the background trees. I could see bringing up the white a bit also, even though this is probably pretty close to what you saw. And it's only October!

That is amazing Nancy. A lot of snow at this time of the year.
You managed to make snow attractive by adding the golden colours. I like it a lot.

Love the light here, Nancy. Timing was perfect in capturing the upper level beams too. I might slide some blue into this for another look. Regardless, the composition is there.

The snow looks better in the large version, but it still looks a little gray to me. So, I would bring those up. If you have TK's masks you can selectively brighten those as the pines in sunshine look ok to me. I like the comp, and the amount of snow already is crazy!
