Drenched in Vibrance

This one was taken a bit farther northeast from the last post, "Dusted in Gold", on our trip from Anchorage, Alaska, to the US. The deep shadows defining the steep golden slopes really caught my eye, and the river below felt like the cherry on top. Progressing further from Anchorage, the autumn colors intensified dramatically over the course of about half an hour! As you can see we were on the edge of a weather system that was just east-southeast of our location. This made for some interesting lighting.

It has been amazing viewing Marc's images from here (not this exact location, of course). We weren't flying these mountains anywhere close to dusk, so at least I get a glimpse into the beauty of sunset light on these magnificent peaks through his lens!

that must have been a breathtaking flight. This is another excellent post. Only thing I can think to suggest would be a slight crop from the bottom to remove the intruding shadow on the left. I like the nice diagonal of the river.

It must have been breathtaking indeed. The shades and diagonals in the mountains and from the river work very well. The colours make it extra special

Pretty scene for sure Nathan, excellent color and comp. Just a suggestion, I might try a 4x5 crop just over the first peak, eliminating the bright sky, either way, beautiful work.

A little crop off the bottom and add a grad in ACR for the top to bring out a little more detail in the clouds, but the light and your comp from a moving plane make this a stunner. :toast:

Again, great stack of elements and wonderful feel of height Nathan!!! :toast:

Maybe a hair more graduated luminance (lowering) up top, but great either way.

Thanks for the constructive critiques. Much appreciated!

Here's a repost... I applied a 'GND' filter in ACR to help control the highlights up top, cropped a bit to remove the shadow on the bottom, and also took a tad off the top so that there's not so much sky. Let me know if it needs more tweaking!

Interesting gradient between the vibrant color at the bottom of the frame and the almost monochromatic look at the top of the frame. This has been a common element in all of the images in this series but seems to stand out more to me in this image for some reason. As with the other images in this series the scale is astonishing.

EDIT: As I have viewed the images in this series I have wondered about bringing out more detail in the sky. As I look at the result though I think I prefer the original post as the darker sky seems to lose some of the impact for me even though it retains more detail.
