Black velvet drop-cloth and a shady outdoor location provided the simple set-up. This bloom did all the rest.

Wow! Takes me back to blacklight posters with its rich, vibrant color and superb isolation. A show-stopper in my book. Nice work

Beautiful minimalist presentation, Ken, of a lovely flower. The centre glow makes this for me - oh, and the wonderful purples !!

I love the black BG and the bright colors. The center details are excellent too. To me, the flower feels a bit tipped away from me - not sure if that is just an illusion or how it was actually shot. That is not a shot killer for me, but I do feel a bit of extra tension with the shot from the angle of the bloom.

Thanks for your comment on my recent dahlia shot. I have not actively pursued marketing my photos, but I am good friends with the florists that I sold some cards to. (I have become good friends with them by going and buying my winter shooting subjects from them.) It has worked out well for both of us - but the cards that I am selling them are just what I print at Snapfish thus far.

Excellent, Ken! Wonderful color both in the petals and the center. Beautiful flower and nicely taken. I like the extra room around the flower and the black background. Well done!

Well done, Ken. Always love royal purple against a black bg. The framing is well done, and the entire presentation is quite artistic (again).

I agree with Nancy. Your 800e and Zeiss glass paid their way on this one! :toast:

Ken - This is just superb. Some 3D feel to it with a special glow.

I might be analyzing too much but it seems you shot this from a slightly higher angle. Does not matter in the end really.

Great rich color and perfect light. I love the square comp and presentation, too.
