Filtered Rose with repost

Rose closeup, with Fractalius and oil paint filters applied. C&C always welcome and appreciated.

Edit: To me, the rose looks darker when posted here than it does in Photoshop. Do I need to let a few more of the reds become over satuated to achieve a better look, especially in a print? Thanks.

Rob, Lovely comp and colors. You might improve the punch of the image by using Photoshop and going to Image>Adjustments>Levels and moving your right hand slider to about 170. You might be surprised by how much vibrancy it adds. Great textures... :toast:

Thanks for the suggestion, Marc. 170 was to much, with much of the details blowing out, but 200 seems to work with little clipping/detail loss. Here is the rework.

Rob, your repost is about what I saw when I tried it at 170, but I was just working with a 72dpi screen shot instead of the original... I rarely go below 200 myself so this is good feedback for me knowing how screen shots differ in behavior from the originals. ( made me realize I've never done a screen shot of my own image because I'm always working on the original or a copy.) I find level adjustments help give some "pop" without causing the garish results one can get from too much saturation.

Love the textures and how this sits against the dark background Rob. Nice improvement on the repost!
