Milky Way Lake Irene

Taken 8-4-13, 10pm, at Lake Irene in western part of Rocky Mountain National Park using Canon 5Diii, Canon EF14mm at f2.8, 30sec & ISO 6400. Image you see is a stitch of two shots using Autopano Giga 3.0.

30 second exposure just starts to have some streaking of the stars. Light pollution on horizon is lights of Grand Lake, CO.

Any comments of composition etc. are welcomed.

I like the silhouette with stars/milky way. maybe it's the gigapan effect, but the angle of the trees to the right and the little bit of fir tree top left distract a bit. Did you try any distortion correction? The exposure and stars with fir are worth playing with a little more.

This is much nicer than the first one.
Nice exposure, the streaking is not noticeable
I might clone out the branches on the upper left.

Hello John, it is exciting to capture the Milky Way, isn't it? I'd recommend straightening the horizon on this one and adding some contrast to the sky as well as toning down the magenta a bit. Adding an unsharp mask selectively to the Milky Way at about 40% opacity will do a great job at bringing out the detail in the dust lanes. Cheers!
