Aged Whitebark

Thank you for your comments on my "Leaf Cascade" image.

Back in July, I found this old whitebark pine snag near Tioga Pass, Yosemite. I was drawn to the curves and textures of this fine old tree. (This is the same tree that provided this image.)

I had to employ various tilts and swings along with a rather small aperture to ensure sharpness.

Chamonix 4x5

Please see large version.

Your comments and critiques are always appreciated.

Creative use of this tree. A lot of depth and texture.
Wouldn't change a thing.

This is fabulous, Preston. The sculptural quality of the tree trunks really shines, and I love the dark lines of the ancient wood. The soft light is just perfect too. The large image is stunning and gives one an inkling of what a large print would look like. One superb image.

Very nice indeed, intimate scenes like this have a really appeal to me, and this is no exception. Beautiful comp and natural color. Gorgeous work Preston.

You know I like this one Preston. Great detail and I like the somewhat broader view showing multiple trunks. I don't recall if I mentioned this before, but from a personal preference point of view, I think there's room for more color/sat, but then that's just me.
Excellent.

Excellent DoF Preston. Beautiful texture and detail. There is a 3D quality about this that is wonderful.

Preston.....this is really a very fine capture.Depth of the view is excellent. Coloring and processing are right on. I could see a bit of contrast and or sat that Lon mentions too, but not so much to lose the soft golden texture here.
As I recall when we talked a bit on this before there was a slight crop from the bottom possibly, that could go either way and both would work just fine IMO. Excellent image overall.....
