Thanks for your comments on my previous post.

This shows volcano Mount Yasur erupting on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu as day slowly changes to night.
Sitting there among strong winds as darkness slowly swallows everything and the volcano’s eruptions become the only source of both light and sound was a very powerful experience, both highly addictive and a bit frightening.
I have posted another image from the same spot in Man & Nature, which gives a sense of the scale of this place.

Fine image. I like the sharp lines and the grey sky contrasting the 'sparks/eruption?'.

This is amazing, both in color and subject. I'm sure it took a lot of nerve to pull this off! I do feel that most of the right side doesn't, IMO, contribute as much to the image. I'm almost wishing I could see all of the eruption and more to the left. I do, however, like the soft red glow coming off the slope on the right, helping display the intensity of the scene.

Terrific image, Karsten. I can imagine that it was a powererful experience and literally an experience of power. I like the dark layers that contrast nicely with the volcanic eruption. Very well done. :toast: Chet

Wow! What a powerful image this is Karsten. I think your comp works great and especially with that wonderful glow on the foreground. Those clouds work perfectly topping off this dramatic scene. Awesome work on this!!! :toast: :toast:
I'll have to take a look at the M&N one now too.

The movement in the clouds and smoke really make this dynamic and special! :toast:

Dreamy looking image , maybe due to the cloud motion behind. I feel the left side is a little tight to the eruption, so more space on that side would have been my only suggestion. Maybe not possible, or some detractor from the image may have been to the left? Cool, I mean hot shot.

Pretty dramatic, Karsten. I do wish for more room to the right of the fountain, though. I like the little bit of glow on the foreground rocks and the color contrast between the sky and the eruption.

Sweet! As has been pointed out, the balance is a bit off. I might even rotate it CW--no one would know it aint level. Cool scene.
