Moraine Lake

Moraine Lake is another beautiful turquise-colored lake in the Canadian Rockies. The day we were there, a heavy cloud cover was over the tops of the peaks so many of my shots were more close in of the lake.

Canon 60D. 35mm at F/16 for 1/30 sec. ISO 400. Handheld.

Love the color and your chosen comp Carolyn. Isn't that lake gorgeous? I think the heavy cloud cover helps accentuate the colors.

I echo Eva's comments and add: Cloud cover brings out the colors so well. The canoe is an added bonus.

That's an interesting pov with the lake angling across the frame and the framing with the trees. The boat is well placed and yes the cloud cover makes shots like this work well by holding down the contrast. I might (and the emphasis is might) crop from the left to move that tree closer to the edge, but without looking carefully I can't be sure.

Nice shot, Carolyn! The canoe really provides the connection in this scene. I like the larger version much better because it has much more presence. I also noticed that the larger version color is significantly different. I suspect that one of them has an imbedded profile while the other doesn't. The larger one has a lot less saturation.

Love the blue of the water with the yellow canoe. I also think that the framing of the shot with the trees on the right is very effective.

Great comp Carolyn! A gorgeous setting and I think the clouds really helped you out with the color on the lake. The canoe adds that extra pop to raise the image to another level.
