Maybe I should have changed the name. The thumbnail is horrible! I am enough of an egotist to think that the large image is worth a look, anyway.

Monotropa uniflora
Too windy for focus stacks and the tide was wrong for wading birds, so I played instead. A lot of post processing went into this, so I am posting it in photo art. It is also a 9 image focus stack—the only plant that would hold still with the wind!

Ghost plants are a succulent and are non-photosynthetic (no chlorophyll). They are parasitic on fungi. They are also a member of the blueberry family.

Thanks for looking! Comments and critiques are welcome. View large for details.

Phil, Lovely textures and details in the larger image. I might like to see a dark vignette around the image to really focus the eye on the center leaves. Thanks for posting in PA

Thanks, Marc. I was going for a "ghostly" image, and actually went with a light white vignette instead.

Phil - your focus stacks are always so impeccable. The B&W conversion works very well, and I just love all the detailed water-drops, almost like frosting (as seen in the large version!)!

The processing paid off, right down to your wavey signature, you sure did achieve a ghostly/spooky feel
