Waimea Morn Rain Refresh

Taken this morning at Waimea Canyon on Kauai. Seeing this almost daily is such a privilege. The FG branches may be a little distracting to some, but I wasn't about to venture out over a 2500 ft drop just to move it and there is too much to heal IMO with the healing brush. Keeping au'natural in that respect. Three images for dynamic range and focus. Luminosity painting and adjustments. Canon 5DM3. Tony Kuyper is right... every picture must be approached differently when it comes to using luminosity tools, but it is so much fun. Any C&C is always appreciated.

I love Kauai, and this is a great photo of the canyon. The bright break in the mist highlighting the red peaks really make this one shine. The mood is fantastic! :toast: The only thing I might try is cropping the big limb out above where the limbs cross. That would only leave the awesome crooked fingers pointing up the canyon :toast: The fatter limb makes my eye stray towards it and not into the canyon. This shot reminds me of why so many movies get made in Kauai. It's just such an amazing place, and your photo captures my awe of the island :toast:

Fantastic. Just love the feel of this exotic beauty. I think the tree adds to the comp. The dappled light on the red and green hills is nice.
Indeed you are privileged.

I really like the way you balanced the light here, Daniel. I don't find the branch distracting because it's light is balanced with the rest of the scene. This must be one amazing place.

Bodacious! I like everything but the smaller white limb. You might do something with the healing brush on at least part of it. You did well on the luminosity painting. Mastering those is quite an art!

Fantastic atmosphere and light Daniel. I agree with Phil on the white tipped branch but everything else is gorgeous.

I also like the interplay of light and shaded areas. Seems to work well IMO. Nicely done.

Lovely light and nice drama. I agree it's well balanced.

With regard to the white branch: Try Harley Goldman's 15% cloning technique. You can find instructions in a sticky thread at the CANP Regional Group forum.

TK's masks are wonderful. It takes some time to learn to use them effectively, but they sure do work!

Epic conditions...and you're up there every day?? Holy nutso. Too much on the branches for me but not too many options at points like you said :) Fun!
