Ruffed Grouse

Canon 1D-X, 500mm x 1.4 TC, handheld
f8, 1/800, ISO20000

An unusual place for a Ruffed Grouse; the camo doesn't work so well against changing birch leaves.

Full frame, slight noise reduction. The performance of the 1D-X at high ISO is very good.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

It's a nice setting but the grouse doesn't look very sharp to me, maybe another round of sharpening. :toast:

Love the setting for the species, Jim. Interesting that with all those leaves there's hardly a feather obscured.

The green of the leaves does set off the grouse very nicely. 20,000 ISO WOW! thanks for sharing.
