A good almost catch! Good detail and eye contact. Not to over-state the obvious, but this would be much better with all of the wings. Good job getting what you did, though.

So, Mike, how many tries did this take? I can only imagine. I think this is a superb capture and result. I really like the detail and colorful, oof bg. The image has a whimsical, children's storybook look to it, and I like the way the swallowtail looks so big from this perspective. The dof on the BF's head and body is perfect. Good detail as well. Yes, the wings are clipped, but given how close you got, and the upward view, that's understandable and doesn't bother me. Thanks for sharing this unique and very tricky BF image.

Scott, It took quite a few, enough so that I gave a big fist pump and a quick (yes) when I saw it on the screen thanks for taking the time to comment Phil and Scott.

Great to have caught this, Mike - really excellent capture, despite the cut off. The light blue/green bg helps establish an airy feel - lovely image !

Holy, cow -- this is a fantastic flight shot!
With focus and detail like this, you don't need all of the wings to communicate the character of the giant swallowtail. Getting the whole BF is easy, but getting such an excellent flying portrait is really exceptional. Great job!

Stunning detail & color in the butterfly & a great catch. Clipping the wings is always a pity but still a pleasing image.

Very cool and unusual shot i love it ! It must have been pretty hard to take. Ofcourse the whole butterfly would have been nicer but this is already quite amazing! Like the contrasting blue sky aswell!

This is an wonderful and unusual shot. I would try cropping a tiny bit from the right and bottom but then it might feel too cramped. Anyway, its a very well deserved weekly pick, congrats !
