Juvenile Green Heron curious about a fishing lure, fortunately lost interest before tangling with fishing line. Nikon D800, 500mm f4 lens, ISO 800, f6.3 Shutter 1/1000. Thanks, Ray

A well told story! I have seen the result of fishing line dooming a bird. I'm glad the GH did not succumb to its curiosity!

Really nice image and excellent comp -but too bad about the shadow on the heron's back.
The sharp head and the intent stare at the lure and great angle makes up for this.
Sure glad he lost interest and didn't get hooked.

Great image, you can really feel the bird's curiosity. The image also leaves the viewer with a question (did he try and get it?) which is not easy to do with a single photograph.

Superb capture that documents a huge problem. The pose of the heron bending down towards the lure and it's focused look are perfect. Glad to hear it didn't go for it.
