Gulf Side - Revisited

Thanks for the feedback on my recent Gulfside image. This is a similar view, slightly different comp. 2 exposures for DR. I think the sedges are blowing in a more uniform direction with this one, and kinda pointing down the valley which was my intent. I tried increasing the clarity on the grasses during processing the RAW to make the detail in the grasses stand out more. I think those conter grasses that do not show the same movement were just too short to catch the wind like the neighbors.

ISO 1250, 17-40, f11

Looking at both, I much prefer the vertical, it moves my eye down the valley better and the grass gives the FG a stronger look in the vertical as well. A very nice scene.....

Harry, both versions are very nice, but the previous version is stronger IMO. But I notice almost all my favorite images from my own portfolio are portrait orientation, so maybe something's wrong with me. ;) At any rate, in both versions I love the colors, great foreground, and the grasses in particular. The directional wind blurring on the grasses works really well for me. Very nice work!

I like your previous post much better Harry. The light was much better IMO. It is all about the light for me and not sharpness of wind blown grasses. I think the blurriness in the grasses is characteristic of the mountains in NH as well as dunes in Nova Scotia and many areas in Scotland I have visited.

Harry

Like this one it looks remarkably Scottish in nature and that red grass is very similar to our own much beloved deer grass. It fits together very well perhaps the lichens have just a little too much green sat but otherwise very good.

I have to say I like your vertical comp from here much better, the light was better IMO. Perhaps you could bring up some of the midtones in the mountains here to make the eye move throughout the scene better. :wavey:

What a view! I like them both, but to add to any confusion, I prefer this version best. But, I'm a horizontal seeing guy.
