Prairie Buddies
by Marlise Launstein
Hi again, Everyone! This is a picture from our epic 5wk road trip this spring. We got to Theodore Roosevelt NP in North Dakota right after a spring snowstorm, so we weren't able to drive around as much as we had hoped. But we did find a few very busy colonies of prarie dogs, and it was fun trying to photograph them.
This was my favourite picture because they are so adorable together!
This is another picture taken with my new Nikon V1 with the AF-S 300mm f/4 lens on it. It's almost full-frame width, but I liked the more panoramic format for this picture.
Thank you for looking and commenting!
Nikon 1 V1
AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/4 IF-ED lens
ISO 100
1/1600sec @ f/5.6
On beanbag from truck window
Dad's Processing Notes:
Converted from RAW using Phase One Capture One Pro 7
Minimal adjustments to tone and contrast using Nik Viveza 2 and Color Efex Pro 4 in PS5
Cloned a distracting OOF branch from LRC
NOTE: I am really impressed with the dynamic range on Marlise's RAW files from the little V1...never mind the detail it held in the snow!
