Hi Everyone,
This is my first time posting here. I was at a spot this evening looking for Red Headed Woodpeckers when this Bald Eagle landed. It kind of surprised me because this usually isn't a place one goes to photograph eagles in Ohio. I got a few shots before it took off and this is the best. Here is the equipment I used and since this is my first timt photographing birds, any help would be appreciated.

Nikon D3X, Nikon 200-400 f4 vr, aperture priority @f4, iso 1000, tripod w/ Wimberley head. VR on.

Hi Tom,
Welcome to NPN avian, your eagle looks sharp. The plumage on the face looks like the detail has been lost a bit, was this a large crop or it could be the result of using noise reduction? If you have more room on the right I would crop some from the left and add back the space on the right. Nice job getting a good exposure against the bright sky and foliage. :toast:

Thanks for the comment Nate... The answers to your questions are yes and yes. Large crop and noise reduction. There is plenty of room on the right but there are also a lot of branches there which are IMO very distracting.

If possible run the noise reduction on just the background, if you haven't already done so.

A nice first post! Nate offered some great suggestions for improvement. I like the perch and the majestic pose. Sharon
