Glimpse of a rose

After the rain yesterday, I was having fun taking photos of my few roses on my new rose bush. I liked the look from an OOF rose in the background of this rose, and I deliberately cropped this in tight for a close look. Does this tight crop work? Somehow this comp and the softer focus appealed to me. . .but curious what others think.

Canon 60D. 180mm macro lens. F/5 for 1/400 sec. ISO 250. Natural lighting, tripod mounted.

I like the close up view and how the sharp area angles in subtly from the lower right. Given your focus, I wonder about tighter crops; off the top to below that oof petal rim and from the bottom to above the bottom rim of the lowest petal or only off the top.

Overall I like the dof choice you made. I like the idea of a crop off of the bottom to eliminate some of the distracting dark areas.

Hi carolyn :wavey: A beautiful closeup  the colors and lines are delightful. agree it would even be better with a crop on the bottom
