Benadryl Hills

Summer monsoon rains have lead to a nice crop of common sunflowers on the hills around Flagstaff. Just a few years ago, an abandoned campfire led to the Schultz Fire which quickly raged across the east side of the San Francisco Peaks seen in the distance. This image was taken this morning. Nikon D600, 16-35 @ f/16,19mm, ISO 100. I forgot to use a higher ISO to reduce the motion blur of the closer sunflowers. Your thoughts about saturation or other factors are welcome and appreciated.

This is nice, Doug. Quite a carpet of flowers - even in the middle ground. Scenic mountains and sky, too. My only nit would be about the lack of flowers in the LL. Otherwise, a great image.

Very nice image Doug, Love the vastness of this scene and the light is perfect. The addition of the moon is a nice touch as well. The lower left doesn't do much for me, I immediately draw my eyes to the colorful display on the right. Perhaps you have a keeper taken a few steps to your right? I am hoping to get up north next weekend and possibly the north rim for a few days if time and $$ permit.

Boy, this comp is really nice IMO. I'm very satisfied with the lack of flowers on the left side and instead love the natural break in the action directly in the middle of the comp. That bush is perfectly placed just off center to the left. If it were mine, I would lose a bit of the mid (mountain) exposure and add a bit more definition to the sky. Again, I 'm more into drama, you seem to have a nice eye for all kinds of scenes including drama, and these nice pleasing mellow/midtone scenes.

Thanks for your feedback. I went back on the hill again this morning with your comments/suggestions in mind. I thought originally that the angled edge of flowers made a lead-in.

I think this looks wonderful, Doug. Your comp works just fine for me and I like how I get lead through the scene. Beautiful colors and a wonderfully peaceful feel. Very nice!
