I think I've posted this before in color but I just decided tonight to convert to B&W since the main color in the other version was yellow since I was shooting into the sun.

Please view the LARGER version for better detail.

I would love to hear your thoughts and critiques. Thanks for looking.

Don't recall seeing this one before, Bill. It's surely not from your local terrain in your home area I suspect. Is this from Big Bend maybe?
I really like the composition and overall distant view included. The ravine here looks like many of the natural desert water or flash flood control units.
I do like the B&W conversion, and it probably even adds a bit more feel to the remote arid conditions we see here over the color version too.

Wonderful B&W conversion Bill. I especially like how the tonal range brings out the details in the rocks.

Nice subject for black and white presentation, Bill. This image, with its good tonal range and near to far comp conveys a real feeling of the American desert. Good work. Chet

Thanks all.

Paul - yep, you guessed right - Big Bend National Park - I should have noted that.

This is very nice, Bill. I like your comp and your larger version has some great detail. I think the b&w conversion was a nice idea here as well. I think I could see it a little darker or maybe just a little more tonal range but enjoy it fine as is too.

Neat look at this dry wash...it sure doesn't look like Florida...ah, I see it's Big Bend. I don't remember the color version, the b&w here really lets the textures and shapes shine. The also does a great job of leading into the distance.

A classic look to this conversion, Bill. I like the range of tones and the depth in your comp. Well done.

Beautiful textures in the rock, and the leading line through the photo is perfect. Good choice to use black and white.
