This is a bit of an experiment in that I have processed the RAW file using Raw Therapee (it is free) very complex and time consuming,I'll ;eave it to you to see if it was worth it.

Taken on Rhino Island, Matusadona National Park, Zimbabwe
EOS 1DX
500mm F4 MkII
F6.3
ISO 800
1/4000

Nice detail Ken. I think you'll find its what we used to call a Reed Cormorant, but I think it's had a name change since we were there

Nice shot Ken.

I use RAW to keep the original file and tweak the settings to image I would like to show/get.

With regards to the African Darter... I doubt what you have is an African Darter. I did a search for African Cormorant and seemed to get similar images. Rob's comment might be correct..perhaps a name change.

Rob.

You are totally correct as to the ID, I have no idea as to why I thought it was a darter, I should know better as we very occasionally get a Reed Cormorant visiting our garden pond

John,
RAW Therapee keeps the RAW file, you just export after your changes as a TIF, I need to try a few more conversions to see if it is better than the Raw converter in PS it should be it has tons of options,
