Yellow Crown on a Stump

I've been having some pretty good success with these Yellow Crown youngsters in Bayou Sauvage this year. I thought it interesting that the bird's legs were festooned with duck weed. Would normally have been backlit in sunny conditions, but under cloud cover it seemed to work. Cropped about 75% of original, larger image included.

The striking red eye and duck weed 'leggings' really make this nice Bill!

I like the detail and pose of the juvie YCNH, and the duckweed is a serendipitous addition. I'm not that crazy with the busy BG, but it is blurred enough the bird stands out well against it.

Bill, the cloud cover gives the Yellow Crown a nice even exposure and I love the duck weed.

Very nice, Bill. I like the pose and the duckweed leggings. The old stump makes an awesome perch.
