Royal Catchfly

I spotted just a few blooms of red among the yellow flowers on the prairie restoration area at the nature center in central Illinois. Had to shift around as they were facing the sun which was away from where I was standing. According to my guide book these are rare in Illinois due to loss of prairie habitat. I do hope my ID is right.

Looks like Royal Catchfly (Silene regia) to me. I've had these growing in my garden for the last 5 years and they are a spectacular flower but hard to photograph. You've done a fine job showing off the blooms here.

Nice comp and beautiful colors! The red flowers stand out well against the green and black BG.
