This flower (clematis texensis) is native to Texas.
Yes, the petals are thick as leather.

Nikon D200 1 sec and f5.6

Thanks for your comments and critiques.

A windless day in Texas, I see. I like the sharp contrasting colors and the "pose" of the flowers. In a perfect world, it would be nice not to have the darker areas in the background. Overall, a nicely composed photo. :toast:

I like the comp which nicely isolated the flowers and foliage, Sanjay, and the contrasting colors.

Really nice color combo, and the lines make for a nice comp. I do wish the oof leaves in the front left weren't there. Not a deal breaker for this very nice shot, though.

These are really neat! I sure like the "pose" of the buds. I don't know if it was possible here because of your plane-of-focus management, but it would be nice not to have those evergreen fronds intruding from the left.

This is lovely. Nice color contrast. The background is perfectly out of focus to keep the subject as the main attraction.

Love the simplicity of the composition and the complementary colours, Sanjay. This is so nicely set on the variegated bg - a very lovely image !

Sanjay - Its always amazing to see how even a little bit of Red in the frame makes it attractive and attention seeking. Many of my good photos, have always had Red in them in one shade or another.

This one is no different. I really like the vine moving down along a subtle curve while the buds are moving along another subtle curve. Great work !
