I arrived at Buttle Lake {Strathcona Park] in total darkness and thundering rain when I spotted a small bright spot in the gloom. Raced down the lake and set up in the only spot with a clear view. The clouds opened this small opening for just a couple of minutes showing the sun rising on the mountain tops.

C&C welcome.

Nice, timely work capturing what is given. I especially like the symmetry of the opening. The inclusion of the water anchors the image well.

Your race for the light paid off very well here as the light is wonderful. I really like the silhouetted hills and lake but I think you could crop some from the top for an alternative presentation. Just an idea but the image is very nice as is. Good work. Chet

Stunning! That's capturing the moment, for sure! I do see a bit of a purple 'halo' around the opening in the clouds. Well done Bill!

I really like this peak into this mountain's majesty. Excellent tele-comp as well. A little tweaking to remove that purple banding along the bottom of the top cloud.

Very interesting view, Bill. I'm noticing some unusual color variations and noise around the peak and in the clouds, however. From a technical standpoint, I'd start over from the RAW here and see if you can't get rid of that abrupt green/magenta gradient around the opening or just darken the thing to the point where it's not noticeable on brighter screens/prints. The layering and lighting here is wonderful throughout.

Bill, you really captured the contrast between the clouds and the opening, tough shot,
but very dramatic,
I like it a lot!

Very cool shot, truly a "window" of sun peeking through. Love the light reflecting off the water in the foreground also. Nicely seen and handled.

A perfect title for this capture, Bill. This looks to have been a tough one for exposure too with this much contrast. All looks really good. I like the saddle gap in the dark area. Overall it has a unique view here with all the elements or layers in the scene.

Love the drama Bill. I see some green areas on top of peaks too. Wasn't there so can't say. I might consider a square crop eliminating the water and just a little bit of the sky. Fantastic mood and light non-the-less.

Epic light and comp, Bill. Way to be there. I am glad you were able to capture this for the rest of us to enjoy and savor. The drama in the sky is very powerful and I love the way you funneled the viewer's attention through the notch in the mountains. :toast:

I like this a LOT. The color really pops against the somewhat muted outer colors.

If this were mine I would crop up from the bottom to eliminate the lake altogether, make this even more abstract. Nice image Bill. :toast:
