Field of Sulfur

Kīlauea, Big Island, Hawaii

Taken a long while ago in 1985. I know it is a bit noisy but it is 1985 vintage film...... Ektachrome 100 Professional. Taken with a Bronica EC and 75mm Nikkor lens.

Thanks for having a look.

What a fascinating photo Eva. Don't know why it has not gotten more comments. I love the color and how the rocks are scattered all about. It looks like a scorched Earth.

I like the way you've captured the feel of a barren, volcanic wasteland here Eva. The variety of color sediments are very interesting. The brooding sky fits the bill nicely too.

When I first opened it, I thought I was looking at an underwater scene. The foreground looks like the ocean floor. Real nice combo of colors, light and textures on the ground. I might consider a crop of some of the sky, but pretty minor stuff.

The yellow/blue color combo works really well. Looks like a pungent wasteland. Nicely done.

I like how the sulpher yellow colors pull me into the scene Eva. Nice moody sky and details in the rocks. Well done.

This one has excellent detail in the larger version here, Eva. Some truly nice quality overall from the older gear and film once again. I do find the composition or layout of the land in this scene has more to look at with regard to the sulfur bed over the previous capture from this locale. With that said, the contrasting colors really offer a bit more intense view of the area. I like it as captured, but could also see a bit less upper sky. Regardless, another fine image from your trip years back now.

some interesting colos and textures here, Eva! I almost think it would work better with the sky totally cropped--but it works as presented too. :wavey:

The Bronica and nikor lenses were my medium format equipment back in the "old days".
Interesting environment. :toast:
