The July butterfly outbreak has begun, with a bunch of Sachem skippers showing up last week and then numerous Peck's skippers (Polites peckius) appearing on Friday. This pair was busy getting the next generation going and were hardly moving, which made getting this 17 shot stack possible. Without the stack, it was impossible to get both bfs sharp at the same time at this magnification (nearly life size). (5D3, 100mm macro L, 1/100s, f/8, iso 800, tripod)

7 commentsI am highly impressed with your stacking work here and also in Flora.
Superb image. Hats off to you for doing a stack on not one but 2 live creatures and getting everything including the antennae sharp
These BF have very interesting diet. The one pupa I was given ate palm leaves during the larva stage. It eclosed on the weekend and looked like the male on the left in this image,.
