Delicate Rainbow (+RP)

I promise I do also shoot at non-iconic locations, but with the good light and subtle rainbow I thought this was worth posting. This was the sunset prior to the night photo I posted previously. I felt like I had to push the sky more than I wanted to, so let me know if the processing looks ok, and how to make it better. Thanks for looking.

I love how the rainbow balances the scene. What incredible light you were gifted with and glad you were able to capture it. I think you could push the contrast in the sky a bit more to give it some more punch, but it's good as is too.

Nice picture and well processed. A bit of a problem for me, however, is that I have seen so many pictures of Delicate Arch. You may consider making it more dramatic (sky darker etc.) to distinguish it from other images. But again, it's a fine picture as is!

Outstanding image of this icon, Jared. Really nice comp of DA, and the rainbow makes this unique.

Well, if you gotta photograph an icon, this is the way to do it! One of the best DA images I've seen, and one that could grace many publications and brochures. Skies looks great...no nits from me at all.
Bravo, Jared! Were there many others here for this rare event?

Very fine capture Jared. A very slight burn of background mountains maybe, just maybe. :toast:

One of the absolute top-3 DA shots I can recall seeing. Amazing lighting and atmosphere in all the right places. Congrats!

Thanks for the helpful comments and feedback. Here's a version with a little more contrast added to the clouds, and burning of background mountains. I think it's an improvement but let me know if you think it's too much.

John, there were fewer tripods here on this night than the other 2-3 times I've been there. Maybe a dozen or so, but lots of other hikers enjoying the show as well.

Jared,

Gotta echo many of the comments - perhaps one of the best Delicate Arch images I've seen posted here. Funny too, such a classic and standard viewpoint, yet the soft light and gorgeous sky with the added rainbow really take this up a notch. Great job with the respost. A wall hanger for sure. thanks for posting this one!

I like this Jared. The warm light on the arch, the way that you have framed the LaSals with the arch and the beautiful sky - all of these elements come together for a beautiful image. Certainly no need to apologize for shooting an icon. Shoot what inspires you regardless of whether it is iconic or not.

Wow. Outstanding shot Jared. I expected a close view from the thumb but find great depth here. Rainbow and light are of course sublime. Rp is the awesome.

Fantastic light. The rainbow is at right place to make this iconic place special. The clouds looks a little "dirty". Maybe more noise reduction helps?

Great take on this icon. Great conditions and no people (unless you rightfully cloned them out). Excellent.

While I have seen many images of this icon, this one ranks right up there with the very best. The sky and the rainbow really provide a lovely backdrop for the glowing arch.
