American Goldfinch

Taken a couple of nights ago in the back yard. The perch is part of an old stump that we use to disguise the waterfall inlet to our pond-it get's a lot of use as a perch.

1Div, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Black Widow on RRS legs, f7.1, 1/640, iso 400, Av mode with -1/3 stop compensation. Processed in CS6 and cropped to 5.1MP. I cloned out one obtrusive grass blade and darkened the center of an overly bright Fleabane. Taken July 8th at 8:22 pm.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Nice exposure and sharp eye and head Dennis. A pleasing capture. A little more DOF was desirable. I know, easy to state after the fact... :toast:

Beautiful lighting and setting Dennis, I wish the perch wasn't sawed off at the end. :toast:

Wonderful light and a very nice background make this a great image, Dennis. You may consider cloning the grass right behind the finch too, if you are OK with it. :toast:

Very pleasing image with nice light . I might consider taking just a little off the top to just below the upper pinks. Pretty! Sharon
