Orchid close-up

Tried some close-ups with an orchid (Phalaenopsis cultivar, I believe) a friend presented us last weekend. Tried several comps and exposure techs and liked this one the best.

Techs: 1D3/180mm+tripod+cable shutter, 1/4s@F13, -2/3Ev, full frame & natural light.

Orchids have amazing detail and form, and this one has very striking color to go with it. Beautiful.

Govind - Striking Reds and good lighting. Orchids are great subjects for photography due to their colors and complex shapes and are a challenge also for the same reasons.

You did well. Please shoot other kinds of Orchids also if you get a chance. There are a few dust specks here and there on the petals and if you so wish, you could clone them away.

Really nice color and control of the light. And, I like your dof choice. Nice!

Electric color surrounding the delicate center. I like it.
