House Wren Quadtych

I set up a blind near a wren's nest to see what kind of shots I could get. I could see the adults go into a hole, but never actually saw the young birds.

The variety and size of the insects fed to the young was amazing. The nasty looking yellow caterpiller-thing actually made it halfway back out of the hole, but an adult bird returned and returned it to the babies.

All in all, not an appetizing selection.

D300; 200-400 @ 400; f11 @1/160th; ISO 400; each shot approx. 80% FF.

All comments and suggestions most welcome.

Looks delicious, Tom. An excellent set of images. Looks like they had a favorite stopping place or two before they went into the nest.

Well done.

Nice composite, Tom. Well thought out and captured. Looks like a restaurant menu for wrens. :toast:

Interesting series of images Tom. Love the prey, especially the yellow caterpillar.
