Great Blue Heron

This one doesn't seem all that sure about it's landing technique, but it has all flaps deployed. I liked the ruffled wings and the reflections from the water on the Heron.

1Div, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Black Widow on RRS legs, f6.3, 1/1250, iso 320, manual exposure. Processed in CS6 and cropped to 7.1MP.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Love the "awkward" pose coming in for a landing. Nice timing. Very nice image.

The large version of this image is definitely worth a look - beautiful detail in this full flaps display. I especially like the splaying long feathers on the chest and the raised tips on the primaries. The tack sharp water drops and the muted reflection add a lot - they really balance the image - nice! This would also look nice as a panorama without the reflection - nice to have options.

Great texture on the underwing with the reflections, Dennis. I like the wingspread and landing pose. Looks like he needs a longer runway. :toast:

Agreed...the larger version is a must see! I like the reflected water on the undersides of the wings, and your great details. Sharon
