Canon 1D-X, 300mm x 2.0TC, handheld
f8, 1/2500, ISO800

This female Northern Wheatear was presenting for mating; the male was busy chasing off rivals. Which says something about males in general, I suppose. The high shutter speed was a not completely successful attempt to freeze the very fast flutter of her wings.

Eagle Summit on the Steese Highway, last weekend.

50% of full frame. Usual sharpening drill.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Must look at the larger image to see the behavior captured, and captured well IMHO. I like how you caught this bird in action. Thanks for sharing.

Nice action shot in habitat Jim The blurriness of the wings adds to the action IMO. :toast:

Great pose, Jim and I love the scale of the bird in the image. Great rock she chose to perch on.

Nice pose and posture. The perch and setting add a lot of interest as the bird kind of hides behind the tip of the rock. I think the comp is ok, but would consider taking some off the top. Overall a real nice image. Sharon

I like the habitat shot, Jim. Great pose! The wheatear looks a soft, even with the high SS. Looks like she was fluttering very fast.
