Dumpster Diving

Not something to fool around with, the Black Bear population in Northeastern PA seems to be on the rise. Or at least more comfortable with people--dangerously. Here a beautiful animal seems to have found a home behind a "Convenient Food Mart" (similar to WAWA, 711, etc.). It's a BUSY place and I think the PGC has been called after today.

D90, ISO-640, 1/160th as it was under the tree cover, f-6.3, 500mm. I did not have my camera in the car because of an eye infection. But despite drawing a crowd, some too close for comfort, the bear remained long enough for me to go to my home and get my camera, about 20 minutes. Hopefully, it can be safely moved. Larger posted, C&C welcomed.

This is unfortunate, it will be the last days for that bear.

I hope not Carl, they often trap them and move them to a distant location. I HOPE that is the case here.

We just had one cross a major highway near our local Wawa, and the police stopped traffic for it. The bear was later captured(shot with tranq gun out of tree) and moved further north to the Poconos, where he has come from once before!

Nice portrait of a beautiful animal Bill. It is too bad he/she has figured out the dump route. Hopefully it can be re-habituated somewhere else.
